The NIHR ABSI’s research is divided into four key themes:

Themes
Theme 1: Mapping Care
Developing an understanding of current management approaches of brain and spine injury worldwide.
Theme 2: Understanding Care
Developing an understanding of injury rehabilitation, the role of nurses and AHPs in neurosurgical care, and access to care and identifying deteriorating patients.
Theme 3: Generating and Implementing Innovation
Conducting randomised trials, developing personalised algorithms and interventions, and evaluating novel technologies and mediums to improve patient care after injury.
Theme 4: Capacity Building
Developing capacity through sustainable education and training partnerships, and through patient and public involvement in LMIC research activities.
